ANTONIO CANOVA AND BOLOGNA: A STORY OF LOVE AND ART

The relationship between Antonio Canova and Bologna began in 1779. In fact, on 12 October of that year, the artist arrived in the city on his way to Rome.

Canova was only twenty-two years old and he recorded his first stay in his travel diary, which today provides an interesting picture of the sculptor’s creative tastes, as well as precious glimpses of Bolognese life in those years.
Subsequently there will be other occasions to cement the relationship between Canova and Bologna. In this post I will tell you about this story of love and art.

TRIENNALE MILANO PAYS TRIBUTE TO ETTORE SOTTSASS

After the 2017 monographic exhibition “Ettore Sottsass. There is a Planet”, Triennale Milano opens Sala Sottsass, on the first floor of the Palazzo dell’Arte.

Sala Sottsass houses the reconstruction and permanent exhibition of an interior of a private residence, Casa Lana, designed by Ettore Sottsass in the mid-1960s in Milan and now open to the public thanks to the donation of Barbara Radice Sottsass.

THE VIBRATIONS OF COLOUR, CLAUDIO ROTTA LORIA, JORRIT TORNQUIST

Two masters of colour, Rotta Loria and Torquist, are the protagonists of a double solo exhibition entitled “The vibrations of color”.
An exhibition that describes the research path involving visual perception, the influence of light and shadows on the artistic support and the importance of the study and design phase for each individual element generated by the creative process.

MARIO GATTO AND PUCCINI: THE EMBRACE OF TWO ARTISTS BETWEEN THE CENTURIES

Few things shake you like a work of art, and even fewer challenge you in quite the same way: nowadays, coming to grips with an artist’s work is almost like coming to grips with what Mallarmé called the drama of the blank page. It is disorienting, disorienting … but exciting.

The exhibition of Mario Gatto‘s works at the Arte Spazio Tempo gallery in Campo del Ghetto Nuovo in Venice is a perfect example of how the contemporary visitor approaches art: They approach art with caution, intrigued but also intimidated, they enter on tiptoe, as if “NessunDorma” were a warning and not just a title, they examine each piece with a slightly questioning look aimed at searching for its hidden meanings and they move with a soft step, careful not to miss any detail of a story that the artist has skilfully woven together without pretending to understand it.
